Leviticus 9: 23-24
Leviticus 9: 23 -24.
"....and the glory of the Lord appeared to all the people. Fire came out from the presence of the Lord and consumed the burnt offering and the fat portions on the altar. And when all the people saw it, they shouted for joy and fell facedown." Aaron is officially becoming the High Priest in these verses and is making offerings and atonement for the Israelites. The purpose of these sacrifices were to bring blessings on the people and for the Israelites to be able to worship God without being destroyed. The falling on their faces in response to seeing God's glory is reverance for God. In todays terms this would mean that God accepted the sacrifice of Aaron and Moses. Which leads me to the point of todays blog; today we continue the same pattern- sin is confessed and we ask for for forgiveness (we repent) and we are atoned for (reconciled, supply satisfaction for, in harmony) with God.
Our perfect worship is admitting we are not perfect!
