Free Gift
| Allright, we didn't mean to sucker you in. We really don't have the ability to give everyone that comes here a tangible gift wrapped package. But we did want to tell you about a free spiritual gift that's offered to anyone who seeks it. Actually, it's a gift that ought to fill the need we all have. Ever find yourself longing for acceptance, for love, for meaning, for wholeness? We've got something that might fill that hole in your heart. Life’s ambition occupies my time/Priorities confuse the mind/Happiness one step behind/This inner peace I’ve yet to find/Rivers flow into the sea/Yet even the sea is not so full of me/If I’m not blind why can’t I see/That a circle can’t fit/Where a square should be/There’s a hole in my heart/That can only be filled by you/And this hole in my heart/Can’t be filled with the things I do/Hole hearted/Hole hearted/This heart of stone is where I hide/These feet of clay kept warm inside/Day by day less satisfied/Not fade away before I die/Rivers flow into the sea/Yet even the sea is not so full of me/If I’m not blind why can’t I see/That a circle can’t fit/Where a square should be/There’s a hole in my heart/That can only be filled by you/And this hole in my heart/Can’t be filled with the things I do/There’s a hole in my heart/That can only be filled by you/And this hole in my heart/Can’t be filled with the things I do/Hole hearted/Hole hearted/Hole hearted/Hole hearted- Extreme Jesus says He came to give us life, more abundantly than we experience it now. When he said that to His closest friends 2000 years ago, none of them could have imagined what it would mean. Jesus went from a charismatic teacher with a penchant for ticking off the religious leaders to a dead man hanging on a cross in no time flat. What did that mean to those that followed Him? and what does it mean to me? The gift is in The Sacrifice. Written into the laws of the world, from the beginning of time, God has required a blood sacrifice to allow for the forgiveness of Sin. yeah, it's a brutal concept, but since Adam and Eve, sheep and bulls and doves were killed to forgive the Sin of men. And the bible says some pretty scary things about sin. It says that "the wages of sin is death" and that "liars won't get to heaven". While most people wouldn't call themselves a sinner, who could honestly say they've never lied? Not me. So where does that leave us? Must we go kill a sheep to get to heaven? No. Jesus was God embodied into human flesh. He came and lived a perfect life, and then was killed by the religious leaders after a mock trial on an executioner's cross. There was a lot of blood. And dig this, it was GOD's own blood. Jesus rose from the dead on the Third Day... over five hundred people saw it, and then told everyone they saw it. Telling everyone they saw it would certainly mean in that day they would die for it, and history attests that they did. The only reason I bring it up, is that it is a partial proof of the historical ressurection. But back to the blood.... If we confess our sins, and ask for Jesus Sacrifice to count for us, the Bible says God will forgive us. And that forgiveness saves us from eternal death in hell, and gives us an eternal place in heaven. Sounds like a pretty good gift to me! |
