Heart Of A Warrior Part 2 – “De Oppresso Liber”

United States Army Special Forces motto: De Oppresso Liber – To Liberate/FREE The OPPRESSED.

Every good soldier keeps focus on the HIGHER purpose/TRANSCENDENT cause and is MOTIVATED by it to PERSEVERE through temptations, tiredness, and trials to reach the goal of fulfillment.

2Timothy 2:3-4 3 Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. 4 Soldiers don’t get tied up in the affairs of civilian life, for then they cannot please the officer who enlisted them.

From beginning to end, Jesus was a person who kept clear FOCUS on the reason/purpose that he was here.

Luke 4:14-22 14 Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside. 15 He was teaching in their synagogues, and everyone praised him.

16 He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. He stood up to read, 17 and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written:

18 “The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to set the oppressed free19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”

20 Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him. 21 He began by saying to them, “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”

22 All spoke well of him and were amazed at the gracious words that came from his lips. “Isn’t this Joseph’s son?” they asked.

This purpose was the driving force keeping him ON TARGET and MOTIVATING him when he was tempted, tired or things got tough.

Mark 10:45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Hebrews 9:15 For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance—now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant.

Galatians 5:1, 13 1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. 13 You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another in love.

Jesus has set us free, but not freedom to live SELFISHLY or SINFULLY.

1Peter 2:16 Live as free men, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God.

We must keep in focus that we are to use this freedom to serve GOD and His PURPOSES.

Jesus has set US free so we may set OTHERS free.

Matthew 10:5-8 5 These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. 6 Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. 7 As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ 8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy,[a] drive out demons. Freely you have received; freely give.

Mark 16:15-18 15 And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone. 16 Anyone who believes and is baptized will be saved. But anyone who refuses to believe will be condemned. 17 These miraculous signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons, and they will speak in new tongues. 18 They will be able to handle snakes with safety, and if they drink anything poisonous, it won’t hurt them. They will be able to place their hands on the sick, and they will be healed.”

Matthew 28:19-20 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.

Mark 12:30-31 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ 31 The second is this: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no commandment greater than these.”

Application: 1) Embrace GOD’S purpose for your life. Make it the driving force and MOTIVATION in all that you do.

2) Be PROACTIVE in preparing and watching for opportunities to bring to freedom those that are oppressed, and then ACT.
